Link-Lock KRs Come Apart
STERLING LINK-LOCK KEY RINGS: How they come apart.
Link-Lock Key Rings are designed to come apart quickly and easily with no moving or miniature parts. When the two links are
aligned properly, the links will slip apart effortlessly, but otherwise not.
.
Spinning Transformable Ring
MY STERLING & GOLD TRANSFORMABLE RING: It ‘telescopes’ apart (bottom) allowing the outer spinning gold and silver
rings to be removed and exchanged with any number of totally different outer spinning ring designs, in this case, a spinning
skull ring. It’s the same two inner telescoping rings in all three of these pictures—also note that the inside of the inner most
ring is texture-patterned.
.
Sterling & Iolite Bracelet
MY STERLING RP13 LINKED BRACELET: With a bezel-set trilliant iolite.

Sterling & 18K Chalice
REGENCY CHALICE: Sterling and 18K gold, the stem is a hollow ‘grid’ tube that you can see through, left; and inside the cup,
you will see a convex cone looking back at you, right.
Colorfully patinated sterling silver, 18K gold. The inside of the cup is plated 24K. This chalice was made to commemorate the
beginning of the third millennium; as the client specifically wanted this chalice to be ‘born’ (if you will) minutes before 12:01
a.m. of January 1, 2000 (it is dated 12-31-1999 on the bottom). Left: You will see the stem as an open, slightly tapered ‘grid’
tube through which you can actually (but barely) see the tip of the bottom of the conical cup, about a fifth the way down the
stem. Although the cup’s tip nests in the center of the hollow stem, the stem’s top is actually a sub-frame on which the cup’s
four 18K gold mounts rest. There is an eighth inch air gap between the outside of the cup and the inside of the stem’s top,
which creates an optical illusion: What looks like the top grid row of the stem is actually a reflection of the inside of the top grid
row of the stem, on the outside of the cup. Right: As you look from the near side of the rim of the cup downward, you are
looking at the eighth inch air gap between the cup’s side and the ‘sub frame’ (the dark ring) and in that gap, again there are
the reflections of the inside of the stem on the outside of the cup. See details of this chalice in the next image.
.
Sterling Chalice Details
REGENCY CHALICE: With the cup detached, you see the outside of the cup also has a convex tip; below you are seeing the
cup’s tip by looking up through the hollow stem.
Please look at the previous image to see how this chalice is normally presented.
Above: Here you can see the cup (up-side-down) detached from the stem’s sub frame, and the four 18K gold cone headed
screws. Note that in addition to the stem’s gridding, the cup’s tip also has an open ring of 18K gold gridding topped by a
sterling cone tip.
Below: This is a view looking up through the stem from the bottom of the assembled chalice. You are looking at the plethora
of reflections bouncing all around and superimposed over the gold gridding on the bottom tip of the cup.
The intermediate grid ring around the base of the column is also of 18K gold.

1st BMW Ign. Key Rings
BMW STERLING IGNITION KEY RINGS: These were the first Ignition Key Rings I ever made. They were the BMW's first
series design.
See some of the designing process in the next image.
Sterling Ignition Key Rings utilize factory master key blanks that you can get cut to match you car’s key at a locksmith’s (in
some cases, the owner of a vehicle must supply their own key blank). Then you can use this to operate your car instead of
your rubber headed factory key.

left; and later, one in sterling with a bronze inset and with sterling rivets, right.
.
3 Sterling 'Oz' Rings
OZ RINGS: I originally made these three custom Oz rings in three sizes for three women in polished sterling silver, above; but
later I color oxidized them, just to see if I liked them better oxidized (I did), below.
See the next two images regarding these rings.

Oz Rings as Proposed

half inches.

and a 14K Porsche with a round 1" split key ring, right.
.
Texas Ranger's Badges
TEXAS RANGER’S BADGES: Made of 900 fine coin silver made from genuine ten-peso coins, front sides above; and back
sides (without pin-backs as the collector requested), below.
This is paraphrased from a law enforcement officer who was an ardent law enforcement badge collector long before the
Internet was available to corroborate such stories:
‘In the late 1800s, the Texas Rangers had no budget for badges. So as part of an initiation rite, these Rangers would have
their badges made by Mexican silversmiths, south of the border, using silver Mexican coins.' He continued: 'That is why
Texas Ranger’s badges are not uniformly the same size or design.’
My client wanted ‘genuine’ Texas Ranger’s Badges for his collection, so he gave me silver ten-peso Mexican coins, and a
supposed pewter ‘replica’ badge from which to copy, and requested I make ‘real’ badges for his collection.
These are the result, both without pin-backs (as the collector requested).
.
Found Object Pin
CHERYL’S FOUND OBJECT PIN, I made this pin with items I found on a single walk one afternoon. It is made of an aluminum
button, rusted steel sheet, and 5 miniature brass screws (two 'eyes' and three buttons) that fasten both to a brass armature.
.
Sterling Neck Choker
MY STERLING NECK CHOKER: With glass beads, this was the first of three similar chokers I made.
See the next image to view a drawing of the third similar choker I made.
.
Neck Choker Drawing
MY STERLING NECK CHOKER: This is a cross-section, cut-away drawing over graphite rendering of the third choker (of
three similar chokers I made) on coquille paper. The actual choker (not shown) was produced from this ‘working plan’ that
was drawn in advance.
See the previous image to view the first of the three similar chokers I made.

MONTY’S DOORBELL BUTTON: Sterling, copper, brass, and a citrine for a button, which lights up in the dark.
.
Washington Pun Pin
MY WASHINGTON PUN PIN, sterling, nickel, copper, brass and padauk wood, with the lid closed, above; and with lid open to
reveal the pun, below.
This pin is a lighthearted Bicentennial pun. Opening the hinged lid reveals a clothesline with ‘washing’ out to dry (notice the
period-correct, 1976 bellbottom jeans!), and in the bottom right, a ‘one ton’ weight.

Sterling & Copper Bracelet

script pierced out on the inside of the bracelet. Upon presentation, he mentioned I wrote his signature more legibly than he
normally does!
.
American Flyer Cane
AMERICAN FLYER CANE: Sterling, copper, brass, citrines, padauk wood and rubber airplane model tires.
From 1976 to 1978, I made several Bicentennial artworks, ending with the ‘American Flyer Cane 1978’ that was inspired from
several influential sources:
This cane was predominantly dedicated to my father, an aeronautical engineer, who worked at Lindbergh Field where the
Spirit of St. Louis was built in San Diego. As a young child, I was lured to images of the Ryan NYP, and thus most of the forms
and shapes on the cane were aeronautically inspired or aerodynamic in cross section, and most of the surfaces were engine-
turned like the cowling on the Spirit of St. Louis that took Lucky Lindy across the Atlantic in 1927.
See the next two images for detail views of the head and boot.
.
American Flyer Cane Head
AMERICAN FLYER CANE: A view of the cane’s head with brass screws, bezel set citrines, swept back wings and exhaust
pipes.
See the previous image to view the entire cane, and the next image to view a detail of the boot.
.
American Flyer Cane Boot
AMERICAN FLYER CANE: The side view of the bottom of the cane’s 'landing gear' rubber airplane model tires under the
fairing.
For the base, I created an airplane’s landing gear fairing over four functioning airplane model rubber wheels. This cane is
strictly an aesthetic statement, as it is absolutely non-functional.
See the first of the two previous images to view the entire cane, and the second, to view a detail of the head.

TWO R4 FACE RINGS: Motor Mouth, 14K with sterling cylinder heads and exhausts, left; and Coble’s oxidized sterling ring,
right.

Sterling Rosette Bracelet
A STERLING ROSETTE LINKED BRACELET: With colored oxidation. If perchance you think these rosettes look familiar, they
were the same rosettes I made for the front door of a 1930s Spanish style house (look at the ARCHITECTURAL portfolio).
.
Jaguar Ign. Key Rings
MY JAGUAR STERLING IGNITION KEY RINGS: The frontside and backside.
Sterling Ignition Key Rings utilize factory master key blanks that you can get cut to match you car’s key at a locksmith’s (in

your rubber headed factory key.

.
Sterling & 14K Rings
WEDDING RINGS: Made with functional hinges, all sterling, left; 14K white, with 14K yellow gold hinge pin, right.
Even though there is a functional hinge in each of these rings, the hinges are symbolic rather than functional, as the hinge is
attached to both ends of the same part.
.
Sterling Bracelet Charm
MY STERLING BRACELET CHARM: A slice of Birthday cake with candles and real wicks.
.
Goldsmith's Pin
GOLDSMITH’S PIN: I made this pin in sterling and brass.
.
Charles' Football Rings
CHARLES’ RING: His original football ring, left; I redesigned it with a concave top, in sterling with a garnet, right.
Mr. Charles had worn his championship ring for years, left, but had always complained that because its high profile and heavy
top, he banged this ring ‘on everything.’ I suggested that I could remake the top of the ring concave rather than convex (which
in fact, would mimic a football stadium). I found a faceted marquise cut garnet (that resembled a football) and I set it by using
four beefy prongs (I was thinking ‘goal posts’) that held the stone proud off the back of the bowl, yet under the top edge of the
ring so that the stone would be shielded from damage.
.
Male Chauvinist Pig Ring
MY MALE CHAUVINIST PIG RING: Sterling, 14K and bezel-set ruby. Yes, the pig does have a rack of horns; it is part of the
pun…
